R-22 has a high global warming potential (GWP), when it is released into the air outside, it depletes the earth’s ozone layer over the South Pole. 2010: The U.S. banned the production and import of R-22 for new equipment. 2015: The phase-out was completed in the European Union. December 31st 2024 New equipment production phased out in India. 2030: The final phase-out is scheduled for developing countries under the Montreal Protocol. January 1, 2030. Complete phase out of R-22 gas in India.

For existing systems: You can continue to have your R-22 system serviced with recycled R-22, but supplies will become more limited and prices are likely to increase due to scarcity Since India as Party to the Montreal Protocol since June 1992, has been successfully implementing the Montreal Protocol and its ozone depleting substances phase out projects. Since R-22 production will be stopped by major gas producing company in few years R-22 gas price expected to be raise 300 to 400% due to shortage of supply in the market.
